Holy Childhood members at Tsangano St. Teresa Parish have been encouraged to continue planting trees and take care of them as one way of implementing Laudato Si in making our earth a good home for all.
The Children have been encouraged during a monitoring visit by the PMS Malawi National Director Fr. Vincent Mwakhwawa and Diocesan Director of PMS Dedza, Fr. Peter Madeya. The two visited Tsangano Parish to appreciate the project of tree planting that was done in 2019 during the Missionary day for Children of the Diocese of Dedza.
The National Director observed that the trees are growing very well and being taken care of by the children through the guidance and supervision of the Parish Priest, Fr. Abraham Paul.
“The trees are in good condition and I am very impressed by the progress. In this I see the dream of the Holy Father, of taking care of the eco-system, being realised. Moreover, the children are growing up with a sense of ecological spirituality. I thank Fr. Peter Madeya, the PMS Director for implementing this project here at Tsangano. I also thank the Parish Priest, Fr. Abraham Paul for his great passion in encouraging children to plant and take care of trees at the Parish premises.” Said Fr. Vincent.
The Parish Priest Fr. Abraham promised that this year the other new members of Holy Childhood will plant approximately 1,000 trees to give chance to these young children a chance to learn the importance of taking care of the environment through planting and taking care of trees.
The Children who attended the supervision function were also given some Holy Childhood exercise books by the Diocesan PMS Director, Fr. Madeya. The exercise books are from the Diocesan Holy Childhood school learning material project of 2021.
The monitoring visit took place on the 8th and 9th of August 2022.
